Let’s get one thing straight, it’s Paddy’s Day, not Patty’s Day.
Next Tuesday, from Montreal to Moscow, people will be celebrating everything and anything Irish.
And it’s all thanks to St. Patrick.
He did loads of great stuff, but the reason JOE loves him is because he got rid of all the snakes that were clogging up our lovely country.
Can you imagine what it would have been like if he had never arrived?
There would be cobras in Cabra, adders in Athlone and pythons in Portlaoise.
And there probably wouldn’t have been loads of namesakes who make us almost as happy as he did.
To celebrate this fantastic man, here are JOE’s 10 favourite Paddys.
10. Paddy Swayze
We love Donnie Darko Patrick Swayze, where he deliberately plays a creepy instructor. Not Dirty Dancing Patrick Swayze, where he accidentally plays a creepy instructor.
9. Paddy Bergin
His moustache in ‘Sleeping with the Enemy’ is as good of a reason as any to put him on this list.
8. Paddy Jackson
He’s not just a nifty Rugby player. Rumour has it, he is also the Stig.

7. Paddy McGuinness
He has been entertaining the masses with his lighting-related puns for years. Comedy gold…
6. Paddy Doherty
He would be slightly higher on the list if he didn’t complain about the rankings.

5. Paddy Barnes
Two bronze Olympic medals and a tendency to have the craic at JOE and SportsJOE parties. Sure why wouldn’t he make the list.
4. Paddy Viera
Viera makes it onto the list because he’s probably the only person on planet earth immune to Roy Keane’s death stare. There’s not a snake on the planet he’d back down from.
3. Paddy Considine
One of the most under-rated actors of our generation and surely the man to play St. Pat if there is ever a mega-budget movie adaptation. Although we’re not sure how saintly he is.
2. Paddy Harrington
Everyone’s favourite butter-man.
Harrington has recently hit form and we’re delighted to have him as our second favourite Paddy.
1. Paddy Stewart
This legend has been in Star Trek and X-Men, yet the reason he makes our list has to be for his hilarious turn in Extras.
What a legend…
M&M’s know how to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. They’ve got an awesome competition over on their Facebook page where you can win a trip to Vegas for the fourth of July. Click here to enter, but be careful you’re not seduced by the sultry green M&M.
