Fun accessories, non-beige chinos and rolled up sleeves: JOE’s guide to looking your best this spring

We've got fashion down

JOE

The Not So Quiet Man.

As we enter Spring, and as the weather gets moderately better, we wanted to take a look at the key pieces you’ll need in your wardrobe this season.

This is confident dressing for the Irish man.

HERRINGBONE

The herringbone check jacket is a staple piece for any wardrobe. It is a perfect transitional jacket from winter to the warmer summer months.

JOE Tip: Darker pieces allow you to have more fun with accessories, whether that’s a contrasting tie, or a patterned pocket square.

green

Strong tailoring is key with any jacket, and this green multi-check jacket is a great example of classic tailoring. Keep the look casual with jeans and a knit jumper. For a more formal look, add a white shirt and a grey trouser.

whiteshirt

A classic white shirt is another must for your wardrobe. Invest in a good quality 100% cotton button down and it’ll see you through plenty of nights out.

JOE Tip: As the temperatures rise, so should your sleeves. Roll them up and keep the top button undone.

denim

Denim on denim used to be one of the deadly sins, but this is no longer the case. A denim shirt paired with jeans is perfect for the weekend, and it can take you from day to night.

JOE Tip: Always mix your denims. Wear a blue denim shirt with a dark pair of jeans and avoid the denim tracksuit look.

Good knitwear is a must, especially with Irish weather. This 100% cotton jumper is a real easy to wear piece, and the light grey will stand out when worn with darker colours.

greyjJOE Tip: When buying a slim fit jumper, it’s always a good idea to go up a size, as you’ll probably be wearing it over a shirt or vest.

When it comes to denim jeans the general rule is the darker the better. A slim fit pair of jeans will go with almost anything, so it’s a great piece to have in your wardrobe. Pair dark wash jeans with a pair of brown leather shoes for a classic look.

bluechino

When people think of chinos they think of beige. And when people think of beige they think of boring.  So break the beige chinos cycle with these perfectly tailored blue chinos. Summer dressing is all about embracing strong colours.

JOE Tip: When wearing one bright piece, tone down the rest of your outfit with your accessories. A brown belt and shoe and a classic white shirt are all you need.

grey

If blue chinos aren’t for you that’s perfectly understandable. A pair of classic slim fit chinos are a great alternative to wearing jeans this summer. Grey chinos are a smart investment. They are easily paired with light coloured shirts, or keep it casual with a t-shirt.

JOE Tip: Don’t wear beige chinos.

Shopping can be stressful, but it doesn’t need to be. Follow this guide and buy the right pieces for your wardrobe. Pieces that you can wear time and time again.
