The new BMW 6 series is longer and wider than its predecessor – making it an even more imposing mile-eater than the version it replaces.
So this is what the new BMW 6 series coupé looks like. The third generation German automotive giant’s taught muscular 2+2 sports car is longer and wider than its predecessor and contains a few more gizmos and gadgets.
The sweeping bonnet, short front overhang and set-back passenger compartment team up with a 74 millimetre increase in body length (4,894 mm) over its predecessor and a 75-millimetre longer wheelbase (2,855 mm) to create the hallmark proportions of a BMW Coupe.
In the new BMW 650i Coupe, a V8 powerplant with turbochargers positioned between the cylinder banks develops maximum output of 300 kW/407 hp.
An exclusive feature of the 235 kW/320 hp six-cylinder in-line engine in the new BMW 640i Coupe, meanwhile, is the addition of VALVETRONIC variable valve control.
Both units are hooked up to an eight-speed Sports automatic gearbox as standard. Also part of the standard specification is an extensive range of BMW EfficientDynamics technology, including an Auto Start-Stop function.
All new 6 series coupés feature a rear-view camera, Surround View, BMW Night Vision with pedestrian recognition and Parking Assist.
Plus, the interiors are fitted out with Nappa leather seats and a Bang and Olufsen high-end surround sound system to make you feel cosy and snug as you glide along the motorways.
