Get mixing this weekend with these 3 delicious cocktail recipes

Electric Picnic excitement has well and truly kicked-in.

We’re counting down the seconds to one of the biggest weekends of the year. We’re particularly excited for the CASA BACARDÍ stage. There’ll be great music and some of Ireland’s top mixologists will be down there making delicious cocktails.

If you can’t make it, don’t worry too much as we’ve got some top insider tips on how you can mix at home yourself.

So without further ado, here’s some great recipes to get you started…

BACARDÍ Cuba Libre

INGREDIENTS: 

  • 35.5mls BACARDÍ CARTA ORO rum
  • 90mls cola (bottled)
  • 2 lime wedges

METHOD:
To build this legendary cocktail, fill a highball glass with ice. Then squeeze 2 lime wedges over the ice and drop them into the glass. Pour in the BACARDÍ CARTA ORO, followed by chilled cola and give it all a gentle stir.

The Original BACARDÍ Mojito

INGREDIENTS

  • 35.5mls BACARDÍ CARTA BLANCA rum.
  • 20mls fresh lime juice.
  • 20mls sugar syrup.
  • 12 fresh mint leaves.
  • 30mls soda water.
  • Fresh lime wedge to garnish.

METHOD
Gently press together the lime juice & sugar. Bruise the mint leaves by clapping them between your palms, rub them on the rim of the glass and drop them in. Next, half fill the glass with crushed ice, add the BACARDÍ CARTA BLANCA rum & stir. Top up with crushed ice, a splash of soda and fresh lime wedge.

Century Club Punch

INGREDIENTS

  • 40mls BACARDÍ CARTA ORO rum
  • 20mls BACARDÍ CARTA BLANCA rum
  • 20mls freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 heaped tsp of fine white sugar (caster sugar)
  • 40mls water

METHOD
Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker, add some ice cubes and give it all a good, hard shake. Fine strain the mixture into a glass full of shaved or crushed ice. Garnish with 4 pineapple slices cut into triangles.
