WATCH: Graham Norton perfectly explains the difference between young people in Ireland and Britain

Paul Moore

He’s full of praise for Ireland’s youth.

Graham Norton was on the other side of the couch this week as the chat show host was Ryan Tubridy’s guest on the Late Late Show to talk about his new book, Holding.

In a segment that was not 100% pre-recorded (cough, cough), the man that was raised in Bandon, Cork was in great form as he chatted about his Irish heritage, working in the BBC and the “pack of lies” that the UK public were sold about Brexit.

The five-time BAFTA TV Award winner has come a long way since he first captured our hearts as Fr Noel Furlong in Father Ted, but before he won that screeching contest in the cave, the gifted broadcaster emigrated from Ireland to the UK.

Norton has spent almost 25 years working in the media , the majority of these spent in Britain, so it’s fair to say that he’s more than capable of seeing the differences and similarities between the younger generations in both Ireland and the UK.

The incredibly likable broadcaster is still impressed by the fact that the younger Irish generations are still keen to learn about the past. Norton is also proud that the younger people in Irish society take great pride in the fact that they’re not apathetic, ambivalent or ignorant of the events that helped shape our country.

Take a look.
