There have been quite a few cars made famous by Hollywood movies, so for this week’s Hollywood Drive of Fame we’re taking a look at James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5.

Don’t act like you’re not impressed.
The iconic Aston Martin DB5 made its first onscreen appearance in the 1964 film Goldfinger and, although it’s appeared in many different designs since, it really is impossible to beat the original classic version that you see above.
The ‘normal’ version of the car was actually released in 1963 and, with a larger engine, five-speed transmission and three SU carburators, was an upgrade on the previous model, the Aston Martin DB4. Here at JOE though, we know that it’s not the ‘normal’ version of the car that you’re interested in, so let’s take a look at what made 007’s wheels so special.
In the original script for Goldfinger, the crafty car was only kitted out with a single smoke screen but, after the film crew began to make multiple suggestions as to what else might be included, the film’s director, Guy Hamilton, decided to jam pack the car full of deadly devices. And so James Bond’s class car was born…
