If you ever thought the Hummer H2 Limo was ‘a bit much’, then you obviously haven’t met the Audi R8 Limo.
If you want to make a statement at an event, you roll up in a limo. If you want to make a statement in a slightly over the top fashion, then you roll up in an Audi R8 limo, or something similar.
According to the company that is making the Audi R8 Limo, it has a V10 5.2 litre monster engine that can reach a top speed of about 317kmh (or 196mph in old money). The company states that “it’s the fastest R8 vehicle to go into production meaning it’s the perfect choice of luxury limo for petrol heads”.
There are just two slight problems with what LimoBroker.co.uk is telling us. Firstly, the way they word the text on their website makes the limo sound as though it is in production, which it’s not. It’s still in the concept stages, according to their website. And secondly, they make the Audi R8 Limo sound as if it can do the 317kmh that they claim.
A normal R8 would have a hard enough time sticking to the 317kmh mark, so we can’t really see how an R8 that’s been chopped in half and has another car welded to the middle of it is capable of reaching that top speed.
Still, we wouldn’t say no to a go and the video is pretty eye catching – we’ll give them that.
UPDATE: Since writing this article the nice folks at LimoBroker.co.uk have been in touch to let us know that they’ve just updated their website. Some of the text highlighted above now reads as follows: “The Audi R8 Limo is currently under production with bespoke vehicle manufacturers, Carbonyte UK, working in conjunction with Limo Broker to take the design from the drawing board to the road.
“An initial completion date for the summer of 2012 has been set, so if everything goes to plan, the stretch Audi R8 limo could be coming to an event near you in just 3-4 months time.”
Three to four months eh? That’s the lift to the Euro’s sorted out so. Now, who knows how to get Poland? Oh, driver…
