The most iconic small car in the world has spawned an even smaller runaround – this time with just the two wheels and zero emissions.

Electric cars in the past have had a habit of looking a bit funny. Things are definitely changing on that front with the likes of Renault, Nissan and Peugeot all launching credible electric cars on the Irish market in the near future.

But the people at BMW have taken the idea of producing a fuel-efficient, eco-friendly vehicle to the next level with a concept vehicle that has half the wheels, a lot less weight and a fair bit of cool.

Long makers of motorcycles, BMW have paired their two wheel know-how with the design skills of their head of design Adrian van Hooydonk to come up with the Mini Scooter E Concept.

It was launched in London by van Hooydonk and model Agyness Deyn. Here’s a gallery from the launch (above), and a clip of van Hooydonk talking about his latest pride and joy.
