According to a list published by the Gardaí yesterday, the worst speeding offender in Ireland was clocked doing almost twice the legal limit.
We’re not sure where Ireland’s worst speeding offender was off to when he was clocked doing almost twice the legal limit near Loughrea in county Galway, but it we just hope he didn’t kill anyone along the way.
The unnamed offender was caught doing 234kph (145mph) where the limit is 120kph.
The second worst offender in the country was caught doing 201kph on the Naas dual-carriageway, which drops down to just 100kph where the offender was caught.
Rounding off the top three was a driver in Dunleer, Co Louth who was clocked at 194kph in a 120kph zone.
According to the Irish Independent, Gardaí said 23 of the 28 offenders listed had paid €80 fixed fines while the other five were contesting their cases in the courts. We wonder if any of the ‘top three worst offenders’ are contesting their cases…
The list of Ireland’s worst speeding offenders was publish yesterday ahead of the October Bank Holiday as Gardaí urge motorists to slow down, take it handy and most importantly, don’t exceed the speed limit.
