Irish website gets slated for its ‘Paddy Jihaddy’ April Fools’ article

Tony Cuddihy

Well, this is one way to get yourselves some international coverage.

The Kildare Now website has published a story about an Irish terrorist who goes by the name of Paddy Jihaddy and has, reportedly, rigged an area in the county with explosives and renamed it the ‘Hill of Allah.’

Oh dear.

The April Fools gag has already got the attention of the Huffington Post, who point out that this kind of humour and extremism should probably stay well away from each other.

The Kildare Now article states: Irish security forces have placed a ring of steel around the Allen area and road diversions are in place until further notice after an anonymous phone call by a male calling himself Paddy Jihaddy said he had rigged the area with explosives and that he was renaming the the locality the Hill of Allah.

To make matters worse, they’ve crudely Photoshopped in an ISIS flag for good measure.

Must have been an interesting editorial meeting.
