Holy mother of God… that’s one seriously ugly animal.
The Ugly Animal Preservation Society recently teamed up with the National Science + Engineering Competition in the UK to launch a worldwide search for an ugly-ass mascot for the society.
There were many contenders including the Proboscis monkey and the ‘scrotum’ water frog (both pictured below), but the winner and the new mascot of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society is the Blobfish (above).

So what’s the point of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society (UAPS) and their new mascot? Well, according to the UAPS website, “The Ugly Animal Preservation Society is dedicated to raising the profile of some of Mother Nature’s more aesthetically challenged children. The panda gets too much attention.”
It’s actually a pretty interesting cause with a “comedic twist” and you can check out more about the UAPS and what they do over on their website. It’s safe to say the Blobfish isn’t the prettiest creature in the world and it instantly reminded us of the human/ostrich hybrid from South Park…
