Welcome to college. You’ll be fine.
The first term is just around the corner and with it comes a glut of fresh-faced first-years ready to take on the next stage in their lives.
Their first task will be to successfully navigate Fresher’s Week. Worry not young bucks, JOE will guide you through.
With thanks to Bank of Ireland, here are 7 steps to making the most of Fresher’s Week.
Harvest free stuff
That packet of pickle onion flavour noodles might not look too appetising now. You’ll be singing a different tune come the end of November.
Branch out
So you’ve three friends from your secondary school in your year, awesome. Nonetheless though, college will be much more fulfilling if you make the effort to meet new people.
Take it easy on the sauce
It’s your first week in uni. You don’t want to gain a reputation that will stick with you for the rest of your time in college.
Be as weird as you want to be
College is a place where you can truly be yourself. Let go and be as odd as you want to be, because guess what? There’s probably a university society where you’ll fit right in.
Get to some lectures
It’s good to start with positive habits and if you can’t get to class in your first week, it’s not a great sign.
Enjoy yourself
The buzz around Fresher’s Week is bloody brilliant. Get out there, dance, be silly and be merry. You will make mistakes, but relax, so does everyone. Enjoy the week and the year and remember, don’t turn your nose up at pickled onion noodles.

Choosing a bank is definitely not the most exciting decision students make this time of year. Bank of Ireland know this, but they also know that it’s a time that many students are a bit stuck for cash.
Open an account with Bank of Ireland and you’ll get to see everything they have to offer. You’ll get loads of goodies that will save you from study boredom or just keep them fed until payday. More information is available here.
