It’s April and it’s still freezing cold so close your eyes, listen to JOE’s latest essential summer tune and try and imagine what it will be like when summer eventually rolls around.
They may have only released one studio album to date, but even if they never make any music again Australian electro/synth pop duo Empire of the Sun are virtually certain to have a very long shelf-life thanks to two of the biggest and best summer tunes in years.
People will be listening to ‘Walking on a Dream’ and the equally excellent ‘We are the People’ on hazy summer evenings for years to come, but we decided to plump for the former effort, which was their first release and is still arguably their most recognisable output to date.
Frankly we would have preferred the usual hot girls in fine weather music video formula that normally applies to summer tunes, but we’ll forgive the lads their extravagance here because the song is just that good.
