The multi-talented producer, rapper and [Autotuned] singer Kanye West has unveiled his latest venture – a female fashion collection – but critics have been unimpressed.
Last weekend, Kanye unveiled Dw, his first-ever designer collection, to somewhat scathing reviews. Previously the rapper’s most high-profile fashion footprint had been his Nike Air Yeezy footwear releases.
Despite the show taking in celebrity spectators such as Anna Wintour, Jared Lito and Lindsay Lohan, the fashion critics waited until the next morning to dig their claws in, with Style.com describing Kanye’s efforts as a “work in progress.”
The Telegraph went even further, claiming that “Kanye West’s fashion debut was like being subjected to an hour-long MRI scan – but not as much fun. Gossip site Jezebel noted that Kanye had only used two black models for the entire show and claimed that the entire collection was “very, very white”.
Ah well, if the artist’s work has taught us anything, he probably reckons “You Can’t Tell Me ‘Nothin” and that he did a great job, but we’ll have to wait and see how the collection does at retail in the near future to find that one out.
