This Twitter data proves that Ireland really cares about the Rose of Tralee

It was big for us

What the hell will we tweet about now?

TwitterReverb have published a visualisation of the massive Twitter buzz surrounding this year’s Rose of Tralee proceedings.

The contest, won by the Meath Rose Elysha Brennan, was the subject of over 52,000 tweets over the course of Monday and Tuesday evening. Between 11pm and midnight of last night, the event was earning 140 tweets-per-minute.

TwitterReverb also put together some of the most popular tweets over the two evenings, which, of course, included the tweet which confirmed Brennan’s coronation. Also popular was host Daithí O’Sé’s selfie with the flag waving crowd, which was retweeted 97 times.

The Rose of Tralee is evidently something that the people of Ireland continue to care deeply about, but we are surprised that TwitterReverb don’t have a section on the page committed entirely to discussing the real talking point of last night.
