A bloke over in the UK has designed a pair of every drunkard’s dream shoe as they use GPS tracking technology to guide you home. You just have to click your heels together first…
Dominic Wilcox, a designer from Northamptonshire, has created a fully functional pair of shoes that will guide you home no matter where you are in the world. Handy if you’re drunk and you’re already looking at your feet!
Now you might be wondering who should you start throwing money at, but sadly, the shoes were commissioned as part of Northamptonshire, England’s Global Footprint Project, which celebrates the region’s historic shoe industry. So you won’t find them in Footlocker anytime soon.
Here’s what Dominic had to say: “I thought about the Wizard of Oz and how Dorothy could click her shoes together to go home.
“After uploading your required destination to the shoes via a piece of custom made mapping software and a USB cable, the GPS, which is embedded in the heal, is activated by a heal click.
“It then communicates to the wearer via a ring of LED lights to point in the required direction.
“The shoe with the GPS wirelessly communicates with the right shoe that has a progress bar of lights to show how close you are to the destination.”
It’s a cool idea we think you’ll agree. Find out more in the video below or over on Dominic’s website here.
