The faith of the Daimler Maybach hangs in the balance as Daimler AG decides whether or not to hold onto the luxury brand.

Featured on one or two episodes of MTV Cribs and owned only by the super wealthy (and super wealthy drug dealers alike) the Maybach has been the height of vehicle luxury sine its creation in 2002.

Daimler, the guys who own Mercedes and Smart, have been pondering the faith of the Maybach for months and three likely outcomes have been envisioned by the motoring gurus at JOE.ie.

Daimler could move the Maybach to a sub brand of Mercedes and have it become the new Lexus or Acura. This will definitely affect its luxury status, as although it’s a luxury car it wont be unique in being a luxury brand. If they make it a sub group then what will happen to the S class?

Option 2 would be if Daimler can go into partnership with Aston Martin to create a second generation Maybach. The two are currently in talks to decide if the Maybach has a future. We should see a result by 27 July on the faith of the luxury brand.

Finally, they could kill it off. Would this be a good idea? What would you do if you bought a Maybach this year and they kill it off next year?

We will just have to hold our bated breaths to see what happens. If you own a Maybach, then I’m sure you already paid someone to hold their breath for you.
