The lads over at MicksGarage.com opened their new HQ today with the help of Taoiseach Enda Kenny, and they had some good news on the Irish jobs front too.

Today, MicksGarage.com, Ireland’s leading car parts and accessories e-commerce retailer, announced a €2.3million investment that will see the company create 65 new jobs at their new Park West HQ over the next two years.

In case you don’t already know about the lads, they were founded way back in 2004, and since then MicksGarage has grown to become one of Europe’s largest car parts and accessories online retailers, delivering products right around the world.

At the launch event this morning, which as we said was opened by Taoiseach Enda Kenny, there was a nifty TV screen set up that tracked online orders in real time, and as we watched, an order was being prepared for Italy. It was actually very cool.

There he is now…

The business currently employs 34 staff and it was set up by brothers, Ciaran and Michael Crean (so yes, there actually is a ‘Mick’), from Ballina in Mayo.

The €2.3 million investment was made by the Ulster Bank Diageo Venture Fund managed by NCB Ventures, the AIB Seed Capital Fund managed by Dublin BIC and a few private investors.

The cash will help to fund an ambitious expansion of the business including the rollout of localised MicksGarage websites for nine European markets including France, Germany and Sweden. So if you’re looking for a job, you’re into your motors and you speak a fancy European language then you’d want to keep an eye out on their careers page.
