Pic: A Westmeath MAN is now amongst the finalists to become the cover GIRL for 2015 for an Irish cosmetics company

To paraphrase a man from a famous Tommy Tiernan sketch, he’ll probably win the feckin’ thing.

To paraphrase a man from a famous Tommy Tiernan sketch, he’ll probably win the feckin’ thing.

You may have come across the tale of Westmeath man Paul McGovern on the site earlier this week, but in case you didn’t, let us bring you quickly up to speed.

For a bit of a laugh, Paul decided to enter a competition to become the cover girl for GOSH cosmetics, an Irish cosmetics company, who were inundated with entries from suitable contestants who GOSH fans could vote for via the GOSH website.

Through some stroke of brilliant luck – probably for the craic – Paul’s application made it onto the website despite the fact that he is clearly a man and his ‘sitting in a tractor’ pose was a lot different from the textbook model poses adopted by the vast majority of his fellow contestants.

We were alerted to the story last week and we’d like to think that we contributed towards Paul getting quite a number of votes (to be fair, he had attracted quite a few votes before we got wind of it); in fact, we may have had something to do with this tweet being posted from the GOSH Ireland account earlier this week…

In the end, Paul ended up getting so many votes that we now know he has been included amongst the finalists to become the GOSH cover girl for 2015, having been contacted by the organisers earlier today.

Paul is one of 20 finalists who will attend the Grand Final at a swanky Temple Bar hotel this Friday night, where five judges will deem whether or not he is worthy of beating off the competition to land the fairly fantastic prize of a year’s modelling contract with Assets Model Agency.

The voting is over now so we can no longer influence whether Paul will end up winning or not, but do we really need to convince the judges that a man with a face like this should take the top prize?

You know what to do judges.

Hat-tip to Jimmy McGovern and Sean Oliver O’Fatharta for the heads up on this one
