Pic: These Irish housemates found an incredibly frugal method for saving money in the kitchen

If this method sticks, they’ll save a small fortune

Granted, they won’t be going on holidays with the money they save.

JOE reader Daragh O’Donoghue recently got in touch to lend us his incredibly frugal money saving tips that might come in handy if you’re particularly stuck when it comes to paying the ‘eleccy’ bill on any given month.

His tip is simple: Put a plaster over the fridge light sensor to stop it from coming on.

It’s a handy tip for during the day, but it’s sure to be a right pain in the arse whenever the midnight-munchies kick in. At least that might deter you from eating something from your mate’s side of the fridge, so it really is a win-win when you think about it.

Okay, so with the money you save you’ll probably only get a loaf of bread or a single can of beer, but, as the fella says, ‘isn’t it better of in your pocket than theirs?’

Massive thanks to Daragh O’Donoghue for sending these our way on Twitter
