Irish romance in the 21st century.
You’ve probably been in the situation before when you’re in a bar and instantly strike up a connection with a stranger that takes your fancy.
After a few drinks, some laughs and maybe a quick kiss or two you’re happy to see this person again but you somehow manage to get separated from each other. Whatever happened to “I’ll never let go” and all that jazz?
Maybe this person went to the bathroom and couldn’t find you when they returned or perhaps your friend was a bit ‘tipsy’ and needed some immediate attention.
Whatever the reason, there’s nothing worse than that sense of regret from not getting someone’s number which is why we can relate to this story.
It seems that this man was in The Workmans Bar, Dublin recently and started chatting to a young lady named Aine who caught his fancy. Basically, she didn’t run a mile in the opposite direction.
Unfortunately both of their phones were dead and they couldn’t swap numbers but this story feels like it’s every single Irish night out.
The initial story on Reddit attracted some doubters, sympathisers and people who found it funny.

Some people felt that this very public search for ‘the one that got away’ was in vain.

What about the old fashioned methods for getting a number? Blasted drink, you win again. The line about volleying the lipstick made us laugh.

Naturally people were curious if this Casanova’s quest was even worth his time but it seems like there’s a good chance for romance between the two.

After the Workmans Bar heard about this thread they did their very best to bring the two together by tweeting the story and since we’re not 100% dead inside, we felt it was worth bringing to your attention also.

This story probably happens in every single Irish bar over the weekend.
The lesson, always bring a pen and paper with you.
