Last Sunday was universally acknowledged as the national ‘put up your Christmas tree day’ but JOE was too busy watching the football attending mass to get around to doing it.
While every other Irish person was wrapping tinsel around the artificial branches, putting decorations on the leaves and loosing their patience with those lights that simply refuse to work, one Irish man was reinventing the Christmas tree.
Who needs a tree made out of pine or polystyrene when you can use porridge? Yes, the stable of every nutritious Irish breakfast has finally been updated for the festive season.
JOE reader Anto Browne made us aware of this tree that his mate created and it’s just superb. According to Anto there was at least 2 years worth of porridge that went into making this tree but at least the packaging has been put to good use.
All that we can say is, “On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me: some porridge in a Christmas tree”.
