PIC: UL student conducts genius strategic analysis on burning question: “Should I go for a few pints?”

Conor Heneghan

Particularly relevant ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend.

Even though Ireland is a particularly sociable nation, we’ve all found ourselves in a situation where the prospect of going out for a few pints brings on something of a crisis.

On the one hand, the desire to save money and to be productive without being hungover the following day has you leaning towards staying at home, while the fear of missing out on the craic is pulling you towards the pub like a magnet.

Many of you will find yourself being confronted by that very crisis this weekend and if you are, a student in the University of Limerick might just have the solution.

Patrick Twomey (cuddly Pa to at least one of his friends) has come up with a SAF (suitability, acceptability, feasibility) strategic analysis of the burning question: “Should I go for a few pints?”

This particular analysis is applied in the case of a college student and it weighs up a number of factors such as finance, reaction of stakeholders, possibility of pulling and potential return on investment (how many pints will equal how much craic?) before reaching a definitive conclusion.

We have to admit, the level of effort invested in this is impressive…

Ultimate procrastination it might be, but it might just prove a particularly useful tool for many of you ahead of one of the biggest social weekends of the year.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend and drink responsibly, folks.
