In fairness, she handled it like a pro.
When you’re living in a shared house and have to find a new housemate, it goes with the territory that you’re going to analyse every little thing about the person that could potentially be sleeping under the same roof.
Their personality, any mutual acquaintances and yes, their appearance, will be the subject of much discussion before deciding whether or not you want to live with them; it’s a big decision after all.
That discussion is supposed to remain private even after the new housemate moves in, but JOE reader John Lane and his housemate, Micheál, accidentally let the cat out of the bag when welcoming a new female housemate (who will remain anonymous) recently.
A lot of shared houses these days have WhatsApp or Facebook groups so they can all communicate together and John and Micheál were happy to introduce their new housemate into the house Facebook group.
Unfortunately for the two lads, they forgot to delete the previous messages in the group, which, embarrassingly enough included their first impressions of her.
Such a discovery would put a lot of people off moving into a house altogether, but the anonymous lady involved helped defuse any tension immediately, as well as removing the potential for awkward situations in future.
You can’t be too careful, folks.
