A JOE reader hadn’t been to his local driving range outside Tullamore for a while.
Well, it’s fair to say it has seen better days.
“I went there last night – I hadn’t been there in years,” the anonymous golfer tells us.
“Seems this recession has hit everyone hard. Pun intended. I walked in and couldn’t believe what I was seeing but then thought to myself, ‘maybe this is normal?’
“There were other guys just hitting balls away and sheep jumping and dodging like it was part of their daily life. So I thought if you can’t beat then join ’em. I didn’t hit one sheep. I’m not sure if that’s a reflection on how good or bad I am. I’ll leave that to you to decide.”
