Today is a sad, sad day for fans of sport and beautiful women as the lovely Georgie Thompson bids farewell to Sky Sports News.
Arguably the most attractive amongst what is a more than decent stable of female presenters on the channel, the blonde beauty has been a fixture on SSN for years and always managed to keep male viewers interested, even during the dullest of news bulletins about some meaningless county cricket game or fly-fishing event.
Thompson built up legions of male followers over the years and has shown that she’s not just a pretty face with her regular appearances alongside James Corden, Jamie Redknapp, Andrew Flintoff and John Bishop on Sky’s A League of Our Own quiz show.
Georgie, who is, as far as we know, still on the market after splitting with Declan Donnelly earlier in the year, is thankfully not going to disappear altogether but will instead fulfil presenting duties in Sky’s new Formula One coverage. If it’s not already too late, you can still catch her on Sky Sports News this evening – she’s on air from 3-7pm.
After that, however, miserable weekday afternoons will never be the same for fans of Sky Sports News without Georgie brightening up the screen, particularly for those of us who work in an office where the channel is on in the background for the vast majority of the day.
Instead, we’ll just have to eh, put up with, the likes of Charlotte Jackson, Natalie Sawyer and Hayley McQueen. Life can be so tough sometimes.
