We might have to rethink how we use Snapchat after this one.
The app has allowed us to send our mates some truly awful selfies, safe in the knowledge that they’d self-destruct in a matter of seconds – but it turns out that’s not quite true.
According to Snapchat’s new privacy policy, your embarrassing selfies and videos can be stored by the company and used however they please.
As per the privacy policy, users ‘grant Snapchat and our business partners the unrestricted, worldwide, perpetual right and license to use your name, likeness, and voice in any and all media.’
This means that video of you singing along to Luke Kelly that you sent one friend and then forgot about could be used by Snapchat for promotional purposes.
And forget about getting any sort of payment for your work, as the policy gleefully states ‘you will not be entitled to any compensation’.
