Spring essentials for your wardrobe

We've finally turned the corner into Spring, so we can afford to smarten up a bit and make the colours we're wearing that little bit more lively.

Winter is the time for heavy coats, big thick jumpers and as many layers as we can possibly fit on to cover us up from the cold, but now that we’ve turned the corner into Spring, we can afford to smarten up a bit and make the colours we’re wearing that little bit more lively.

From suits to jackets, shorts, trousers and accessories, you can throw a bit of colour into your outfits and still have a smart look for any occasion. Colours coming into use this season range from muted beige, light brown and pastel blue, to vivid cobalt, burnt orange and emerald green, but don’t worry about going mad with experimenting, you can just mix and match for a fresh look after the dull colours of winter.

When we think sunshine we think Italy and the Mediterranean coast, and if we’re honest, we wouldn’t mind heading off for a quick break in the sun. Still, we’ve got jobs to do and need to earn our corn, so we can just inject a bit of the Riviera lifestyle into our every day outfits instead.

The bright light colours of the first three outfits keep an eye on trends for Spring/Summer 2013, but are also classic looks that give a subtle rather than outrageous over the top pastel look.

We’ve said time and time again how important the fit is when putting together an outift, and these complimentary cuts with clever little touches will make your outfit that bit different from everyone else’s.

For a smarter, business look, the fourth and fifth outfits can tailor to those occasions, with more understated colours. However, with ties and pocket squares, you can still inject a bit of a contrast as well as some vibrancy into the outfit.

Speaking of, those accessories don’t need to be stuck in your office wardrobe, as they can also work well in smart casual wear for that Mad Men style, slick look which will have the ladies comparing you to Don Draper. Favourably, of course.

The final look is the option of going smart casual, like World Cup winner Jason Robinson, mixing colours with a slick jacket, with focus on the trousers and accessories.

Gagliardi’s Spring/Summer Collection for 2013 offers a huge range of well finely tailored looks for this season, with fitted gear (don’t panic, it just means not baggy rather than skin tight lads) that can add some much needed cheer to your woeful winter wardrobe.
