STUDY: Too much sex can make you unhappy

Calling all the Don Juan’s out there…

How much is too much?

Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, suggests having more sex doesn’t lead to increased levels of happiness.

Pfft, when has science ever been right?

Anyway, the researchers in question asked one group of 32 married couples to double the amount of sex they would usually have.

The control group, which consisted of another 32 married couples, where told keep having sex at their regular rate. No more, no less.

The researchers then questioned both groups and, somewhat surprisingly, the couples who were having more sex – in the name of science, might we add – weren’t any happier than the couples who had maintained their regular sex drive.

The group that were having more sex even reported that the increase of fun-times led to them feeling lower sexual desire and a decrease in sexual enjoyment overall.

Speaking about the study, Tamar Krishnamurti of Carnegie Mellon University, said: “The desire to have sex decreases much more quickly than the enjoyment of sex once it’s been initiated.

“Instead of focusing on increasing sexual frequency to the levels they experienced at the beginning of a relationship, couples may want to work on creating an environment that sparks their desire and makes the sex that they do have even more fun.”

So there you have it. You can read the full report here.
