The Newlands Cross flyover finally opened up to traffic today and there were more than a few joyful motorists heading into work this morning…
Yesterday we brought you a pretty cool video of the flyover’s entire one and a half year construction that was condensed into just over a minute’s worth of footage.
You can check it out here if you missed it the first time.
The flyover is expected to cut a sizeable portion of travel time off motorists’ journeys during rush hour and you can now drive from Cork to Belfast without hitting a single traffic light. How cool is that?
It’s also worth mentioning that the project was finished four months ahead of schedule and within its budget too. So fair play to all involved (even if some of us did silently curse you while sitting in rush hour traffic jams over the past year – sorry).
So, without further ado, here’s a look at all those happy tweets from the N7 this morning.
me and some of the goys are going to check out the newlands cross flyover later, what a time to be alive #flyover
