Sweet new special coffees from Bewley’s, a food festival in Cork and a chance to see the fastest man in world rugby strut his stuff at Thomond park.
Bewley’s Special Collection Fresh Ground Coffee
Without the special kick that we get from our morning coffee, we dread to think what state we would be in most days before noon. But being the sophisticated media types that we are, the buzz we get from regular instant coffee just isn’t giving us the kick we need anymore.
The office coffee maker has a lock on ‘Employee of the Month’ here in JOE Towers and we have just fired it up with some new stuff, created by Bewley’s. They have just launched their Special Collection Fresh Ground Coffees, and all three are just what the doctor ordered.
The Palmyra, from Panama, is a smooth coffee and the medium strength of the three. The Yirgacheffe, from Ethiopa, is less potent but is packed with fruity tastes that make a for a great cup of coffee while the Colonial, from Bolivia, is a rich roast that is our personal favourite. But don’t make us choose.
Available for €7.99 each, each tin contains more than enough coffee to get you through even the toughest of weeks.
Taste of West Cork
This is a few weeks away but it is well worth your while organising yourself and booking the time off now. From September 5-14, the Taste of West Cork Festival is on and as that part of the country is one of the very best in the land for food, you know it is going to be good.
The fantastic Inchydoney Island Lodge & Spa are kicking it off on September 5 with a brilliant evening showcasing the best produce on offer within easy distance of the hotel. Head Chef Adam Medcalf has created a top secret seven course menu that will feature some beautiful local seaweed. For €65 you can enjoy a drinks reception and the feast of food while for an extra €20 you can enjoy a seaweed bath too.
The food at Inchydoney is always superb so we can only imagine how good this special local extravaganza will be.

Limerick World Club 7s
This great event is on this weekend, so make sure you get down to Thomond Park if you have any chance at all over the next two days.
Twelve teams from all over the world will descend on the home of Munster Rugby for the first ever World Club 7s event in ireland. The global circus rolls into Ireland with teams from Fiji, Saracens, New South Wales Waratahs, Stade Francais, Moscow, Auckland, New York, San Francisco Golden Gate, Vancouver, South Africa’s Blue Bulls and Western Province, and, of course, Munster Rugby, taking part.
Star attraction, apart from the Munster lads of course, is Carlin Islea, the fastest man in world rugby, who will be playing for the new York team.
Check out what he can do here. We really can’t wait to see this in the flesh.
