This McDonald’s is giving some customers a breathalyzer test before serving them food

A pilot program is in place

Joe Harrington

We know a few lads who would hate to see this implemented here at home.

A trip to McDonald’s after a night out on the town is a ritual for plenty of Irish people.

It usually goes according to plan and you get to stuff a Double Cheeseburger in your gob, but sometimes it goes horribly wrong.

To avoid moments like the above, a McDonald’s in Cambridge has resorted to giving their security staff breathalyzer kits to test people who seem a bit too tipsy.

According to the Cambridge News, the move is part of a police pilot program that’s aiming to stop troublesome late-night behavior (i.e. drunken idiots being massive idiots).

A teacher in the area told the local paper about his experience after being refused entry,

“How do you get turned away from McDonalds for being too drunk? I don’t know why anyone would be there at 2am if they hadn’t been drinking.”

We don’t imagine it’d be good for business if the rule was introduced here in Ireland.
