A third of Irish women feel turned on when kissing their man, but two-thirds admit they would kiss their partner more often if he was clean shaven
Recent stories in the media have hailed unkempt facial hair as the hot new look for men, while the clean shaven face has fallen from grace. But what do Irish women think of the trend? For Valentine’s Day, Gillette has liberated the women of Ireland by revealing how they really feel about men’s facial hair!
Gillette research shows that one in three Irish women (32%) feel turned on and over a third (38%) feel passionate when kissing their man. However for the long suffering lovers of hairy men, two-thirds admit they would kiss their partner more often if he was clean shaven. Instead of feeling turned on, the number one thought going through females’ heads when kissing a man with facial hair is ‘it’s scratchy’ (41%). So there are a lot of hairy men across Ireland who are missing out on loving, due to their scratchy faces.
Hairy kissing issues aren’t just affecting men in relationships. A quarter of Irish women say they’re more likely to give a man with facial hair quick pecks only; while half of females save long passionate kisses for men who are clean shaven. This is a worrying issue for the hairy men of Ireland, as 7 out of 10 females consider kissing to be very important in a relationship.
Irish women are not just rejecting facial hair because it’s a turn off when kissing. In fact, only 1 in 5 females prefer the look of a man with facial hair whether it be short stubble (15%), full beard (4%) or moustache (1%). Of those that do like facial hair, most are young females aged 18-25, but women in their late twenties and onwards like the look of facial hair even less.
Irish women have acknowledged the trend towards beards, with almost three-quarters (72%) agreeing that men are shaving less now than they did in the past. However only a third (37%) of Irish females personally consider it trendy and only 1 in 10 females find men’s facial hair ‘rugged’ (16%) or ‘sexy’ (15%).
