Bono and The Edge are €1.64 million out of pocket from losses on their Dublin hotel.

The enormous 2009 pre-tax losses for The Clarence Hotel show the dip is 53 per cent worse than the previous year’s losses of €1 million.

The U2-owned hotel hasn’t made a profit since 2006 when its operating profits came to €148,800.

Employee numbers at the hotel were cut from 98 to 71 last year.
