Video: Galway girl cuts off her own hair to help raise funds for her friend with cancer

The nicest story that you'll read all day

This is the nicest story that you’ll read all day.

It’s common knowledge that your best friends are usually the people that stick by you through thick and thin but a 4-year old from Galway might just be the finest example of friendship that you’ll ever read about.

Roisín Smith wanted to help Lucy who was diagnosed with lymphoma last September. The chemotherapy treatment has caused Lucy to lose nearly all of her hair however she has also been given a very special friend during this tough time.

After seeing a picture of Lucy on her dad’s laptop, Roisín instantly decided that she wanted to have a large portion of her hair cut off and donated to a wig-making charity that provides real hair wigs to children in Ireland and the UK.

The parents of the two girls have a business relationship and the girls only met after Roisín noticed a picture of Lucy on her fathers computer, she’s from Galway while Lucy is from Kildare.

Roisín was curious about Lucy’s hair loss and after her parents carefully explained the situation to their daughter she instantly offered to donate some of her long locks to help a relative stranger.

The two girls have since been in contact via video messaging and Roisín’s incredible gesture has also managed to raise €4,000 for BUMBLEance and brought awareness to the incredible work at the Little Princess Trust charity.

Here’s the footage of the nicest haircut that you’ll ever see and we have nothing but admiration for this incredibly selfless and kind gesture.
