Currently being built in the UK, Bloodhound is an astonishing piece of engineering. Gaze in wonder at the control panel the driver will have in front of them.
Would you have the balls to drive a car at 1,000mph? No, us either. So then you really need the man that is preparing to do that, Andy Green.
Green will be the driver of Bloodhound, an incredible car that is currently under construction. The man himself is an Air Force pilot and the current holder of the land speed record at 763mph. Now he is again working with Richard Noble to try and break that record before going on to eventually go faster than 1,000mph.
In recent days, Green and the team behind the car have released a number of videos that explain how the car is being built and how it will work. The level of detail is crazy, from toughened aluminium to acrylic moulded windscreens, and a Eurofighter-Typhoon jet engine and a rocket motor will power the beast.
But the most interesting bit is the cockpit, which doesn’t look anything like any car dashboard we’ve ever seen.
The plan is to beat the existing record next year before having a lash at the 1,000mph mark in 2016.
Oh yeah, and here’s a look at what the completed car should look like. Wow.
