Getting a bag of chicken balls from the Chinese has become a fairly common practise in Ireland in recent years, but it’s not a type of food that a large portion of the older generation would be familiar with.
Kathleen McDermott, or Nanny McDermott as she’s fondly known to her grandchildren, is 88 years old and emigrated to London from Longford over 60 years ago.
She was not particularly impressed when some of her grandchildren asked for her thoughts on chicken balls after a recent visit to the Chinese; indeed, she was keen to point out that the words ‘chicken’ and ‘balls’ don’t really belong in the same sentence.

You’re never too old to become an internet sensation Kathleen; yourself and this gentleman from Cork would have made quite the couple under different circumstances.
