VIDEO: Irish prankster hates Paddy’s Day so he decided to ask foreigners some hilarious questions instead

Paul Moore

Hard to argue with some of these points.

St Patrick’s Day is a celebration of all things Irish but nobody needs to be told that leprechaun hats, being corralled like cattle into Temple Bar and matching green jumpsuits are about as Irish as Kung Fu, lederhosen and a summer with good weather.

If you hate the furore and drunkenness that surrounds Paddy’s Day then this skit from comedy group the Windup Merchantz is definitely for you. One of their members named Joe went out onto the streets of Dublin to find out what the big deal was in the eyes of tourists.

Having seen this video we’re instantly reminded of Brendan Behan’s most famous quote, “It’s not that the Irish are cynical. It’s rather that they have a wonderful lack of respect for everything and everybody.”

Take a look.
