This is inspirational stuff.
Pat Divilly is a fitness instructor from Galway who has recently set up a initiative called Project IMPACT, aimed at launching several fitness events in order to help those less fortunate.
Last year, Pat’s gym brought 500 people along to run the Tough Mudder race and he managed to raise €160,000 – a record – for Cystic Fibrosis in the process.
In this excellent Ted Talk, he chats to the audience about how he has come so far since an ill-fated spell in Dublin that left him so broke that he couldn’t afford the €12 bus fare to go back to Galway on Christmas Eve.
Pat describes how one conversation in particular brought him back from his lowest ebb, and the importance of the ‘third place’ in people’s lives.
It’s well worth your time.
