Video: Jaysus. Man captures moment he was struck by lightning on camera

Not for the faint-hearted, this one.

Not for the faint-hearted, this one.

As was evidenced during the stormy weather a few months back, the first instinct of a lot of Irish people to a storm is to cuddle up close to a loved one and watch it with their hands over their eyes from the relative safety of behind a window.

Judging by the video above, that might actually be the best practise to observe as a guy filming a storm on his iPhone at Lake Cuyamaca in Southern California earlier this week captured the moment when he was actually struck by a bolt of lightning.

The bolt knocked him to the ground but his iPhone continued to record what was happening as passers-by immediately rushed to his aid.

Thankfully, he survived the incident and commented on Twitter that he was “feeling lucky” afterwards, although it will probably be a few days before his hair returns to his normal state and things stop sticking to him.
