Video: Pranksters go to ridiculous lengths to convince drunk guy he’s been in a coma for ten years

There was a very serious message behind it, but we’ve rarely come across a prank as well thought out and as well-executed as this one.

There was a very serious message behind it, but we’ve rarely come across a prank as well thought out and as well-executed as this one.

Quite a lot of you reading may have been in a situation where you’ve woken up in a strange place and not known how you’ve got there, but waking up in a hospital bed is a far more frightening prospect than on a stranger’s couch, in someone else’s bed or in the bathroom after a particularly heavy night out.

If waking up in hospital wasn’t bad enough, imagine then to be told that you had been there for ten years and had only just woken from a coma and that not only could you not remember what happened last night, but for the past decade?

That was the punishment inflicted by one group of Americans on a friend of theirs with a history of driving under the influence in an elaborate attempt to make him see the error of his ways. Turning an empty office into a hospital room, they had a series of medical officials inform him of his plight and even arranged a fake news report about Miley Cyrus from 2023 that might sound over the top when you hear it, but wouldn’t be beyond Miley the way she’s going at the minute.

Eventually they let him in on the act, but also made sure to hammer home the fact that they don’t find his behaviour one bit funny, with a concluding and emphatic message to viewers to avoid drinking and driving over the holiday season.

Let’s hope that he and everyone else gets the message.
