Is there anything to be said for another drum solo?
When JOE was growing up we always used to have certain weekend activities that were set in stone. Saturday morning was when we played sport, the evenings were spent watching Match Of The Day, and Sunday was the day when we had to wear our best clothes and head off to mass.
Of course we were delighted to go, it’s not like our Mam had to drag us away from the TV with threats that we were sinners and would be going to hell if we didn’t attend. Cheers for the childhood trauma there Mam. And, depending on who was saying the local mass, the service may have been a bit boring and in need of some excitement. But just how can you spice up the sacraments?
Every Sunday we hoped that our local priest would add a bit more showmanship to his altar work, or that Father Dougal might make a guest appearance.
After years of thinking we have finally found the answer to our prayers and it’s just so simple. We’re hoping that inappropriate and epic drum solos during Christian rock songs are now a thing and that they catch on around the world.
