Video: The promotional clip for Ireland’s Ancient East looks very impressive

Looking good

If it can take off like the Wild Atlantic Way, then this could be a big success story for Ireland’s east coast.

A new touring region on Ireland’s east coast was officially launched at the RDS by Minister for Tourism, Paschal Donohoe and Minister of State, Michael Ring today as a follow-up to the Wild Atlantic Way on the west coast.

Travellers along ‘Ireland’s Ancient East’ are challenged to immerse themselves in history in an area that stretches from Newgrange in Meath down as far as Cork and incorporates a number of famous historical landmarks that date back as far as 5,000 years ago.

Fáilte Ireland forecast that the initiative could deliver an extra 600,000 tourists to the region by 2020, increasing vistor revenue to €950 million in the process.

Whether it can follow in the footsteps of the Wild Atlantic Way remains to be seen, but Fáilte Ireland have certainly done a damn good job with the promo in any case.

Have a look for yourself above.
