What are the odds?
840,000 to 1; those are the odds of winning the “Eternal Splendor” scratch game, according to The Colorado Lottery. Well, one man who could do with more luck than most was lucky enough to meet those highly unlikely odds.
As reported by 9news, Colorado native Michael Engfors has been homeless for six years after falling victim to alcoholism and losing his business.
His luck changed this past week when he bought a scratch card, as explained by Jeremy Kowalis of the Aspen Homeless Shelter:
“It’s such a great story, and it’s really inspired so many people, because out of all of the people, especially in Aspen, Colorado, that could win half-a-million dollars, it couldn’t happen to a better type of person, than somebody who actually uses the homeless shelter, that’s for sure,” Kowalis said.
“I don’t think he normally spends $10 a day on a lottery ticket. But he did that day, and it sure paid off.”
Have a look at this short clip, because what he plans to do with the money is even nicer again.
