Recently, “Mad” Mike Whiddett tore around the 10.4km long stretch of New Zealand highway that’s known as The Crown Range. Obviously, he had a little help in recording the footage, thanks to the lads at Red Bull, but the end product looks absolutely class… However, it’s the making of the video that we’re interested in. Take a look at how you shut down a main road just for a drift video below…
In fairness, it looks class and it has us itching to get out drifting in Mondello sometime soon.
Here’s what the Red Bull lads had to say on YouTube: “The drive for Mike Whiddett will be challenging and faster than most. For the first time in NZ motorsport history, the road has been closed across three sections for a unique filming opportunity.
“The New Zealand-based international drift driver has a chance to push his bespoke quad-rotor rotary engine car to new limits on a completely clear road. The road closure signs are rolled out; it is time for Mad Mike to Conquer the Crown.”
