When JOE reader Kenny Fitzgerald sent us in this clip of his granny sending him a very special piece of ‘rap’ to London, where he’s living, we didn’t expect much.
His granny, from Cork, decided to brighten up his day in the best way possible – by sending him her unique interpretation of ‘Get Low’ by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz.
Sample lyric: ‘Through the windows/Through the windows/Through the walls/Through the walls/The sweat drips off my balls…’
To this eighty-something-year-old’s eternal credit, she goes full throttle.
No lyric is too descriptive, no rhyme too explicit… In short, she really goes for it.
That isn’t even the best part – Kenny tells us that, “in true Irish granny style she got my aunt to do her hair before she recorded it for me.”
