Video: This wind turbine demolition looks absolutely spectacular

There’s something really interesting about watching the destruction of a large building or structure, but it looks even better when shot from above.

Petr Hejl recently took his hexacopter rig to a farm in Torrington, Connecticut, in order to capture the demolition of a prototype wind turbine that was left on his farm by an energy company.

When the energy company in question, Optiwind, shut its doors earlier this year, the owners of Klug Hill Farm in Torrington decided they might as well pull the structure down, seeing as it was pretty much useless.

Here’s what Petr had to say: “After removing all the support braces, the three main columns were cut with plasma torch (the last one from the passenger seat of an ATV), and a gentle tug with a tractor did the rest.”

It’s a seriously cool video and it’s made even better thanks to the bass drop in the middle of the clip.
