Mondello Park International Racing Circuit kicked off the start of their ‘Become A Race Driver’ challenge recently at L’Ecrivain Restaurant on Baggot Street, so we went along for a gander (we were told there would be hot women – they didn’t lie).
If you’ve always dreamed about sitting on pole position with a fleet of other race drivers biting at your heels for lead, then you’ve come to the right place.
Usually, if you want to experience that kind of action you need to buy yourself a copy of Forza and really good gaming wheel. However, Mondello are offering you the chance to become a real life race driver and you don’t need 5-years experience.
Mondello are searching for drivers who have never held a competition licence before and would love the chance to race free of charge at Mondello Park during the 2013 season.

All you have to do to be eligible is complete a Mondello Park Motor Racing School Start Line course or higher, and then enter their ‘Become A Racing Driver’ competition. It’s that simple and you don’t have to spend thousands of hours on a track just to get in.
The prize includes everything you need to complete a full season’s racing in the Formula Sheane Series at Mondello during 2013, and the prize is worth in excess of €15,000. Nice…
While at L’Ecrivain Restaurant we managed to have a quick chat with Tim Swail, the winner of last year’s competition. He said it was daunting doing the challenge at first, but that noting compared to winning the over all competition.
“No matter how put off you are, you should give it a go. I didn’t think I had a chance of winning when I sat into the Sheane on the first day, but sure look at me now.”
The Leinster Trophy kicks off this coming weekend (Sept. 15 and 16) so you can watch Tim compete in the flesh while checking out what the formula the Sheane’s have to offer.
