WATCH: Spectacular National Geographic video showcases the beauty of the Wild Atlantic Way

Conor Heneghan

Stunning.

“When it’s like this, you don’t even need to go on holiday,” is a common refrain amongst Irish people when we get the type of fine weather we’ve been fortunate to have in the last week or so.

And it really is true.

If you’re ever inclined to take a road trip around Ireland, there are any amount of stunning spots to visit, a number of which are dotted along the Wild Atlantic Way, which has been a roaring success since it’s been developed into a major tourist attraction in recent years.

So impressive is it, in fact, that National Geographic were compelled to make a mini-documentary about “the rugged beauty of Ireland’s West Coast”.

“The Wild Atlantic Way, on the west coast of the Republic of Ireland, is like stepping into another world,” reads the blurb on YouTube.

“Both rugged and bucolic, the Wild Atlantic Way boasts rocky coastlines, green hillsides, land and sea adventures, and enough local characters to make you want to return again and again.”

Indeed.
