WATCH: These two punters need telling that the Galway Races is a marathon, not a sprint

Conor Heneghan

Galway Races 1, these guys nil.

As many people headed west this week will testify, there’s something special about the Galway Races.

It’s not just the actual racing itself; there’s a buzz and an atmosphere around Ballybrit and Galway city in the last week of July that makes the Races a must-not-miss event for the thousands that go there every year.

Of course, not everyone is able to cope with the fairly relentless social aspect of a week at the races in Galway.

As if that was in any doubt, check out these two fellas, who were spotted lying flat out, fully suited and booted, in Doughiska, a short distance from Ballybrit, just before 6am on Tuesday morning.

They may have lost this round, but we’ve a feeling the same fellas will be back for more before the week is out.

Cheers to Ciaran MacDonagh for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail editorial@JOE.ie.
